Miller Howe Hotel

A Lake District Wedding Photographer‘s point of view

Whenever I’m booked to shoot a Wedding at a venue that’s new to me I’m always looking forward to finding out just what that venue has to offer from a purely photography point of view. For me, this means it has to have character, ideally it will have some interesting details and if I’m really lucky a good view too. If that view goes as far as the horizon then it opens up the opportunity for spectacular photography enormously

As you’ll see from the slideshow above, and those same images hosted individually below if you scroll down,

Miller Howe offers it all – and more besides 🙂

Miller Howe has the most incredible opportunities for intimate shots I’ve yet to see in any venue! It has a great variety of places in & around its beautiful garden that will allow me to flatter you as the Bride & Groom in virtually any light, and at virtually any time of the day & year. The multitude of characterful statues, ornaments and planting gives superb opportunities for me as your Lake District Wedding Photographer but then it has views too; and OMG what views they are !!!

Miller Howe probably has the best, or certainly one of the best, range of views across Windermere from any hotel on its shores. It has incredible views from just outside the conservatory doors, all the way down to the ornamental pond with its cheeky cherubs and life-size Heron feature, and those views just continue to open and change as you walk further down the garden

When I shot these images in Autumn I didn’t have time to explore the interior of Miller Howe, though I’m hoping to rectify that shortly, but if you love the Lake District and you’d like a Wedding venue that will allow for a wide range of photography from the smallest of intimate shots with great feature detailing to the vastness of a HUGE lakeland sky and lake shot, then you’d do well to consider Miller Howe in my book

This venue is so perfect for your Wedding Photography as it suits every taste, and especially for the couple for whom their Wedding Photography is a priority and who want to explore every opportunity this FAB venues has; typically not all in one hour-long session as much as maybe 2 even 3 30 minute ones as your Wedding unfolds and the light changes

Miller Howe offers me so much as a photographer that I’d happily shoot every Wedding they ever had !!!

So if you’d like to help me do that, well sort of, then as a ‘Thank you’ I’ve put together a

Miller Howe Special Offer specific to this venue – CLICK HERE for details

Miller Howe

Some further information

Miller Howe sits on an elevated position overlooking Lake Windermere and can cater for Wedding parties from just 2 to a maximum of 80 persons

It is now a family owned hotel although it was originally built during WW1 by a wealthy industrialist and ship builder, Thomas Fredric Harrison. Miller Howe‘s position was described by the Victorian novelist and journalist Harrier Martineau as “a view unsurpassed for beauty int the whole Lake District”, and its easy to see why

From 1948 through to 1971 Miller Howe changed hands several times latterly being used as a B&B, when it was then bought by John Tovey. John made his name as a chef and became one of the UK’s first TV celebrity chefs, where he put Miller Howe on the international map as a restaurant with rooms. Despite further ownership changes Miller Howe has maintained its reputation for unsurpassed luxury and exquisite dining

Its current owners, Martin & Helen Ainscough, have restored many of Miller Howe‘s original features and reintroduced pieces of art and furniture including those of a contemporary style; resulting in a wonderful combination of a classic hotel with a contemporary twist

And don’t forget to CONTACT ME to see if I’m available to shoot it for you too !!!

Oh, and don’t worry that its a long way for a Wedding Photographer Barnsley

or even a Barnsley Wedding Photographer travel to shoot a Wedding!

Its a trip I’m making at least once a month on a business development basis and for shooting for my own portfolios too. I’m also party to a couple of Lakes’ networking groups that means I’ll travel increasingly to the Lakes in the build up to the final move, which will then have me traveling back to the Barnsley area to cover my work commitments there too for a least a few years thereafter; but then that fits in nicely with seeing other family members too, so travel is a small price to pay for the benefits of working & living in the Lake District

So BOOK ME to HELP ME too – thanks 🙂
